President Obama gives his “if-by-whiskey” speech on Marijuana

“As has been well documented, I smoked pot as a kid, and I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very different from the cigarettes that I smoked as a young person up through a big chunk of my adult life,” Mr. Obama said in a lengthy interview with The New Yorker. “I don’t think it is any more dangerous than alcohol.”

That is the quote from an interview that President Obama gave to The New Yorker. The shame being that Obama has been spinless on this issue ever since he got into office. He still allowed the Feds to go after legal grows after he said that he would honor state’s rights. He has remained completely silent on the issue, and being that He is the President of the U.S. he holds certain executive power which could reschedule and reclassify marijuana. In fact more medical dispensaries have been raided under Obama than Bush.

An ‘if-by-whisky‘ speech is a speech given that can appease both sides of the issue while not solving anything. In fact he goes on in his interview to say

“If marijuana is fully legalized and at some point folks say, ‘Well, we can come up with a negotiated dose of cocaine that we can show is not any more harmful than vodka.’ Are we open to that? If somebody says, ‘We’ve got a finely calibrated dose of meth, it isn’t going to kill you or rot your teeth.’ Are we OK with that?”

I believe what he failed to realize is that we do have finely calibrated doses of meth that’s prescribed by doctors and given out by the pharmacist and it’s called Desoxyn, which is a methamphetamine along with it’s cousin Adderall. If fact those negotiated doses of cocaine that he mentioned have since been used for various medical reasons, such as the Novocain that you get from the dentist.

For someone who was a former toker, a cigarette smoker, someone who has used coke, and still drinks, he really is just playing politics here. At least we are making progress even though it’s slow in the making.

Well then fucking do something about it Barry!and Legalize It!
