A recent study shows that weed needs even more medical research attention ASAP

According to this study “Cannabidiol protects liver from binge alcohol-induced steatosis by mechanisms including inhibition of oxidative stress and increase in autophagy“, the cannabinoid CBD has been shown to protect mice livers from developing fatty infiltrate when exposed to alcohol.

So what does that all mean?

Drinking alcohol can lead to fatty liver disease which is the build up of lipids (Steatosis). This study suggest that the CBD’s in marijuana can help the cells regulate the autophagy process that would mitigate the effect of drinking alcohol.

This study doesn’t necessarily indicate that the CBD’s in marijuana protect the liver, heal it or anything else. This is just a good starting point to prove that even more research needs to be done on cannabis as a whole. It seems that every few months we look at the news to hear of another medical use for marijuana that needs to be thoroughly researched and peer reviewed.  Of course I’m not saying that weed is the miracle drug, but it has been well documented all through out written history as having medical uses.

Just another reason to legalize and to start growing
